Agatha Kemunto is a research scientist in the industrial microbiology and biotechnology department in KIRDI. Currently pursuing her master’s degree in biotechnology at Kenyatta University. She has 10 years of experience overseeing and assisting in research projects including efficient bioethanol production, food safety, mushroom culture and production, biogas production, isolating and culturing micro-organism for product development and competent waste exploitation techniques to produce both energy and other materials.

She is ISO/IEC 17025:2017 proficient with  certificate training on sewage and waste water treatment from Rasshtrya chemicals Mumbai, India, food security post-harvest, processing and quality assurance of selected agro-waste products from Kasetsart University, Thailand, 2nd detection techniques of mycotoxin in food and feed from JKUAT University, Kenya and strategies of chemical management from KEMI, Sweden
